Hello everyone,

I just bought Tandberg 3300X from Germany through eBay with not working condition.

I live in Indonesia, Jakarta City and just realized maybe I'm the only one who have Tandberg 3300X. In our country the most populer reel to reel is AKAI, but the Dragon Slayer Tandberg 3014 is very famous here.

Shortly, I try to fix this gorgeous reel, and after some replacement parts (transistors and very unique one is capasitor with resistor) and also tidy up the cables and found there are some sockets was installed backwards, finally it works and back to normal operation.

My concern now is...I want to upgrade/recapasitor like I did in many amps or receivers considering this unit was born around 1970 and need capasitors refreshment.

Maybe somebody can share experiences or maybe have a reusme capasitors list that would be helpful?

Thank you.

Greetings from Jakarta - Indonesia.

Best Regards,

Hi, my name is Gerard

I have a TR2075 for around 40 years, about 15 years ago I planned to refurbish it.

This resulted in this particular TR2075 still not refurbished, but instead buying "something defective" now and then. Some 15, maybe 20, (or 25?) devices of different brands I still have, they hide under a bed, in cabinets and even in drawers, to avoid any impression I am a hoarder.

My current Tandberg pieces are the TR2075 I have for so many years, an Acrylic TR2075 one I just finished refurbishing, and a pair of Studio Monitors.

Therefore, I like to join this party!

Cheers, Gerard Slikker

He always admired Tandberg but only recently bought a used TR2040 in Serbia where he lives. Shortly after the receiver started having problems and now I am trying to repair it. I will open a separate topic about it.

As I have very little free time for the repair it will take time and my dad in the meantime already got himself another receiver so it is possible that Tandberg will stay with me.

Cheers

Hello to all Tandberg fans. I am Guido and I live in the Netherlands. I bought my first Tandberg device (TR2040) last year and was able to get it working, with help of tandbergista's blog and this forum. Quite happy with it! The virus struck and I came across an Huldra 10 that was supposedly not working. Cleaning contacts did the trick and treated it to new bulbs and capacitors. There is something about the H10; it is like a box of magic and it really makes the music come alive. Almost 50 years old and still going strong: now that's quality for you.https://www.imagebam.com/view/ME73SRD

Love the looks of the Tandbergs. My sister studied specs and listened to and compared receivers the entire summer of 1977. She bought a TR-2040 and some high-end inefficient speakers that the Tandberg couldn't drive properly. I loved the looks but was less than impressed with the sound quality. Fast forward 45 years and I got a broken TR-1020 with a large equipment purchase.

I found the Tandbergista TR-1000 Magnum Opus repair write-up and that exceptional repair journey inspired me to repair my TR-1020. With the Magnum Opus idea of gifting it to my sister.

Now my project is nearly completed and the receiver is up and running. The sound is rich and full making me more impressed with the sound quality of this Tandberg than the great looks. Now I understand why she loved her Tandberg.

I am glad to be part of this site and hope that I can be of assistance as Jens and his write-up was to me.
