Hi guys! I just wanted to share a technique that could save some original potentiometers.

A common issue with Tandberg pots is that the glider that runs on the carbon track snaps, as it is under constant tension.

I have found that you can in fact solder this glider back together and it actually holds up. I have now done this on two of my own, and recently even did the smaller volume pot on the TR 2055 for a dutch member of the facebook group. He reported back yesterday, stating it worked perfectly!

I figured I'd share this, since it may allow some of you to keep the original part.

Best, Klas

Hi, Does anyone know of any good locations for second hand hi fi shops or tech guys in Sweden?

I'd like a TCD 440A cassette deck and thought I might get lucky in Sweden as it's closer to home...

I'll be going for two weeks, last week of July and first week of August, staying mainly in the south of Sweden and will be driving in from the Hook of Holland via Germany. I'm unlikely to be travelling much further north than Gavle, but you never know and Oslo looks tempting...

I have done some googling but not had much joy, I found a good sounding tech guy called John from Eslov, but his trade ad has since been taken down and I haven't found his website.

Whilst I haven't had much luck on places to buy, I have found a lot of information on Tandberg, the sportbil files are much appreciated, and thanks too for good sites like tandbergista's. It's really helped me in choosing a deck :)

Hello!

Posted this at another forum, but figured it belonged here for obvious reasons 😊

This week I did a service on my beloved Huldra 10. I was originally just planning to fix a phono channel that was dropping out, but figured the old thing deserved some more love.

I want to thank the one and only Tandbergista for letting me pick his brains a little regarding the channel issues.

So here it is; my week in pictures!

https://i.imgur.com/3yDMchG.jpg

Lights changed. I sanded the bulbs, and spray painted the tops in silver for a close to original diffuse lighting.

https://i.imgur.com/rGqRtSb.jpg I then sanded down the panels and fixed some nicks with teak wood filler. https://i.imgur.com/opYKDzt.jpg

I used vaseline oil, in several coats over 3 days. When it dries, teak gets a red'ish matt shine which looks absolutely fantastic.

https://i.imgur.com/PkI2w5P.jpg

I then retouched the repaired areas. A closeup of the hand painted wood filler. Well hidden right??

https://i.imgur.com/6Snx72a.jpg

The end result. With the vaseline oil dried you can really see that red matt shine. Looks lovely, particularly in blue daylight scenarios.

Hope you like it!

Best, Klas.
